Trevor Savage memory of Len Akehurst

Created by Trevor 2 years ago

Hello the Akehurst family. I'm sitting here playing with my phone, and thought about school days. I was a pupil of Brooke House School in Hackney where your dad taught. What a great teacher and a great man. He was very much a sporting teacher. Loved his football and cricket. He was our Hackney schools rep side manager when we won the Bower Cup. A proud day. He then formed a Sunday side named after that cup win. I remember how warm and friendly he and your mother were. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think your mum's name was Beryl. On match days,he would say come to your house in Walthamstow early and your mum would make us a cup of tea, before we set off for the game.

Sorry to waffle on so long, but it's brought back so many memories.

I'm so sorry for your loss, your father was truly a wonderful person and a great teacher.

Regards Trevor Savage
